LIVING CONSCIOUSLY EDUCATION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
When an amazed teacher asked second graders why they had been so good at lunch for so long, one girl stood up tall and proud and responded: "That's because we're living consciously!"
To incorporate character education at the elementary school level is to deliver a dramatically different student to the middle and high schools when the time comes.
Living Consciously offers three different manuals for the elementary years that take into account the developmental needs and cognitive abilities of children at each important level of development. The beginning manual is designed for non-readers and uses movement, songs, art, puzzles and activities to introduce Living Consciously concepts. As they progress through the elementary grades, children receive their own manuals and discussion becomes a learning tool.
Delivery methods in elementary school are flexible, with two different options most used for presentation to elementary students. A teacher can present the curriculum to his or her students, or a counselor or other school staff member who has facilitation training in Living Consciously can come into the class and deliver the program.
Teachers in elementary schools are often expected to teach all subjects and are under pressure to prepare students for standards testing. This can be overwhelming for all. Teachers have found that Living Consciously, given at the beginning of the day, provides children an outlet that removes stress and dramatically reduces oppositional behavior throughout the day.
In short, teachers have found Living Consciously to be the perfect foundation for successful learning.
When and if behavioral problems do arise, Living Consciously provides a simple, direct language and process to deal with issues cleanly and quickly.
