FUNDING FOR LIVING CONSCIOUSLYIf you wish to proceed with a pilot program or full implementation of Living Consciously at your school or in your district, these are some avenues that have been pursued by schools for funding support:
- Local Level
- Existing school budgets
- School community support groups such as the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
- Chamber of Commerce organizations, service clubs and local businesses
- Scrip programs
- State Level
- There are state governments who have acted through legislation to mandate or encourage character education. (It's about time!) As of this writing,
Mandated states: AL, AK, CA, FL, GA, IN, NB, TN, VT, VA Encouraged: MD, MI, NC, OK, OR, WA, WV
- If your state is one of these, funds may be available! State funding is also available for Vocational and Technical Education, Career Development and Special Education. State foundations are also a possible source.
- National Level
- Federal programs offer "Title" monies for educator facilitation training, student curricula, parental involvement and statistical training. These include:
Title I, Parts A, D, E; Title II. Parts A, C; Title IV. Part A; Title V. Parts A,D. Some are known better by common names: Safe & Drug Free Schools and Communities No Child Left Behind The Partnership for Character Education Program
Additional funding may be available through Vocational and Technical Education, Career Development, At-Risk Students and Special Education.
National foundations and even national businesses can provide generous grants for education and quality of life community initiatives.
